Phuket lies 890 km south of
Bangkok. The name of Phuket is derived from the Malay word “bukit” meaning
hill, it is Thailand’s only island to have provincial status. Known as the
“Pearl of Thailand” because of its shape. It measures 21 km at its widest
point and is 48km long. It is the same size as Singapore and making it as
Thailand’s largest island.
Phuket is best known for
its beautiful beaches where swimming is good as well as sun bathing.
